One day ago, I noticed a lone snow goose among a flock of Canadian geese in the pond behind my home, From my understanding, this happens if the snow goose lost its migration with fellow snow geese or that it is ill or injured. Having safety in numbers, it apparently kept shelter with the Canadian species. I had watched it on and off during the day and it seemed healthy. The next day, it was dead and laying on the opposite shore. Soon, one of the resident eagles came down for a meal plucking off all the white feathers in the process.
